3.1 Release Notes

New Features

  • Full support for SNMP traps as an alert type, allowing for integration with other enterprise monitoring systems such as HP OpenView.
  • Monitoring of Sametime on WebSphere, in addition to our existing support for monitoring Sametime on Domino.
  • Traveler Status reasons (why is my server Yellow or Red?) are now displayed in the Traveler Health page when the status column is moused-over.  The Traveler Status reasons are available for Traveler server versions 9.0.1.4 and higher.
  • The Traveler Status reasons are now included in the alert messages sent out when a Traveler server status changes from Green to Yellow or from Yellow to Red.
  • VitalSigns now checks to see if the Traveler server is running in constraint mode. A corresponding "Resource Constraint" column has been added to the Traveler Health page, holding either a Pass or Fail color coded value.
  • Basic WebSphere monitoring.

Improvements

  • Enhanced monitoring of Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange.
  • Added the option to set Maintenance Windows using the Business Hours specific to a server’s location.
  • Implemented JQuery plug-in to format phone numbers for sending SMS messages.
  • Added the option to adjust cluster replicators based on the cluster replication delay for Domino servers.
  • Log file ‘keyword alerts’ for Domino servers now include the text of the line containing the search string.
  • Improved code to reduce the growth of the log files.
  • Added filtering by alert definition to the Alert History page.
  • The Overall Health menu now has an option to show the Server Status Summary as stacked progress bars.
  • Event Log is now an independent alerting mechanism to allow mixing and matching with other alert types such as SMS, email, etc.
  • Overall Sametime Conference statistics are now available in the Key Metrics menu.
  • A new report is available to show the user count over periods longer than one day.
  • VitalSigns is now supported on Windows 2012.

Bug Fixes

  • Allow server properties to be saved even if the EXJournal Start Time field is left blank.
  • Fixed Mail File Open Times Delta graph.
  • Fixed IBM Traveler false ‘Red’ alerts.
  • The Network Devices Grid now displays the off-hours scan interval correctly.
  • The VitalSigns upgrade installer now detects the VitalSigns folder location for the previous install.
  • Fixed display auto resize issue on Log File Scanning page.

Known Issues

  • When there are multiple reasons displayed by the ‘tell traveler status’ command, only one is reported in the VitalSigns alert message. This is due to a limitation of the Domino server statistics resulting in truncated status information. A PMR has been opened with IBM to request a software enhancement.
