User Interface Profiles
- Alan Forbes
A feature which enables administrators to precisely control the user interface elements which are displayed to the user.
This feature is great when you want to enable selected features for selected audiences, such as when you want to enable PowerScripts for Users and Malboxes to one team and Teams and SharePoint to a different feature, for instance different L1 support groups. This feature is in addition to the existing feature which allows you to limit which specific scripts users can access.
This new feature works by allowing the VitalSigns administrator to create any number of "UI Profile" documents (a new tab in Application Settings) in which you specify which menu items will be visible as well as some other items such as Notifications and the Status Summary.
You will have the ability to specify which tabs a user can see when they are looking at the Key Metrics\Office365 page, as shown to the right:
Once a profile is created, you can assign this profile to a user in the same way that you can assign PowerScript roles to a user. Only one UI profile per user is allowed. If the user does not have a UI profile assigned, then by default they get all UI elements.
