You can use VitalSigns to test mail servers by connecting to the server using the native mail protocol. In this way VitalSigns acts as if it was a mail client. Supported protocols include SMTP, POP3, and IMAP.
Go to Servers & Devices -> Mail -> Mail Services
Select the Mail Services tab
Click the New () button
Enter the appropriate information into the text boxes
